Considering a Change in Brokerage? Here’s What You Need to Know

As we stand on the cusp of a new year, many of us find ourselves reflecting on the past and contemplating changes for the future. It was this time last year when I, too, felt the need for a change - a desire to step out of complacency and seek new horizons.

Being someone deeply engrossed in self-help books and self-motivation, I'm constantly seeking avenues for personal growth and professional challenge. It became clear to me that it was time for a change in brokerages. But the question loomed large - where should I go?

Transitioning to a new brokerage isn’t a simple decision. It involves a myriad of considerations. Perhaps, the foremost query on many agents' minds is about splits - the financial aspects. How much of their earnings do they get to retain? How much goes to the broker? Are there caps on the broker's share? Do they encounter monthly fees or transactional charges?

However, focusing solely on financial gains might overlook the bigger picture in building a thriving business.

It’s crucial to ponder: Are you fixated solely on maximizing earnings from each transaction or laying the groundwork for a sustainable business?

I've observed that agents driven by maximizing individual deal profits often harbor a scarcity mindset. This mindset leads them to invest minimally in their business, clients, and community, driven by the fear that each deal might be their last for an extended period.

Contrastingly, I've built my business on the foundation of serving clients and the community, continuously giving back and fostering relationships that extend beyond transactions.

In February 2023, I made the strategic decision to join Powerhouse at eXp Realty. This move wasn’t merely about financial considerations; it was about aligning with a group of like-minded agents who prioritize putting clients first. Collaborating with this national team has been enriching, enabling us to brainstorm ways to give back and contribute meaningfully to the communities we serve.

If you’re contemplating a brokerage change in the upcoming year, consider this a call to delve deeper. Reach out, and I'll share a comprehensive list of questions you should consider asking when evaluating potential brokerages. It's not just about the numbers; it's about finding a place where your values align and where you can flourish both professionally and personally.

At eXp Realty, LLC, we believe that success isn’t just measured by individual gains but by the positive impact we make in the lives of our clients and communities. Let's embark on this journey together, shaping a future that thrives on service and purpose!
